culture the way i see it

I do agree with anthropologist Ruth Benedict about people being "creatures of their culture" because as we develop, mature, and grow through the ways we are brought up into our culture, we watch and learn from the habits and actions around us and create our own identities. Through our own interpretation of what culture is, we become creatures of our culture because we mold into what is around us. It then is embedded in our beliefs, habits, values, etc. I can say that the ways in which I was raised has a direct correlation to the ways everything around me was taught to me. I then responded and created them in my own identity to how I view different perspectives of culture. My habits and beliefs come directly from what I was taught from my culture like respect, love, tradition, God, religion, family, education, etc. I can review my life and see that I have been a complete recipient of what culture is about and how I have become a creature of it.

The different culture, by education, religion, thinking something to make our belief invariable. Worldwide, there are that's our open eyes.

I agree! We, as kids, absorb what is around us. We are trained to behave a certain way, mostly by observing what other people are doing. My question to you is this: Do we have a choice? Do we choose to behave a particular way, or can we be trained to act in a different way? And, what happens when someone does not act according to ones culture? How are they treated?

I agree that who we are, how we act, and how we view the world are all largely based upon cultural norms and sets which are passed down and learned from passed generations or promoted within the realm of popular media. Even those things that we decide not to follow are often rebelled against not because of the premise, but because of the following it has achieved. The most important time for this, as you stated, is during child hood as that is when we form the core of our understanding of the world. This is also why I believe you hear of people being "goody -two-shoe" kids or "wild child" kids...its all based on a decision to conform or rebel to cultural norms and sets.
