Another concept...

For this semester, I think most of the terms and concepts I have learned are based on the meanings of intercultural communication through being connected with people of different diversities. I have found that being open to other cultures and backgrounds allows communicators to effectively learn about other perspectives, and other ways of thinking as well. Being able to interact with people of different backgrounds gives us an open mind about what other mindsets are optional for us to consider and how apparent they are in learning to communicate effectively. Often it can be frightening for people to step out of their box and understand the many cultural variations that one must be aware of and at times it can become a burden for most to understand completely. When a person is confronted with having to interact with a culturally and socially different person, their entire comfort zone may be hindered and it then challenges them to have to to shift certain mannerisms and ideas for them to communicate effectively. I believe this concept could have been addressed more in the class, although I had a great time learning about it, I would have like to do more exercises on these concepts to further elaborate on its characteristics and many other learning experiences.
